Legal Review Notice

This draft document serves as the terms framework for Smooth PDF Reader. It must undergo formal review by qualified legal counsel in your specific jurisdiction prior to commercial deployment. These terms do not claim automatic compliance with every international legal jurisdiction.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Smooth PDF Reader website or web companion software, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please refrain from using the software.

2. License and Intellectual Property

Smooth PDF Reader, including its original source code, web interface styling, graphics, and layout, is owned by [INSERT OWNER / DEVELOPER NAME] and protected under intellectual property laws.

We grant you a personal, worldwide, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use Smooth PDF Reader in accordance with these terms for personal or internal business document tasks.

3. User Responsibility for Content

You retain 100% ownership and copyright of any images, photos, and PDF files you choose to process using Smooth PDF Reader. You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have obtained all necessary licenses, permissions, and rights to convert, merge, split, or modify the materials you process.
  • Your use of the software does not violate any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or privacy right of any third party.
  • You do not use the tool to generate, distribute, or facilitate unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or malicious content.

4. Client-Side Processing & Technical Limitations

Smooth PDF Reader processes files locally within your device’s browser memory:

  • Browser & Hardware Constraints: Performance, processing speed, and file capacity depend on your device’s available RAM, CPU speed, and browser implementation. Processing exceptionally large image collections (e.g. hundreds of high-res photos) may cause browser tab slowdowns or memory exhaustion.
  • File Integrity: Encrypted, password-protected, or corrupted PDF documents may fail to open or render. The software cannot bypass PDF encryption or security restrictions set by third parties.
  • No Backup Guarantee: Browser IndexedDB storage is volatile and may be cleared by browser automated cache pruning, privacy extensions, or user action. Smooth PDF Reader does not provide cloud backups.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

Smooth PDF Reader is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, statutory, or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the conversion output will be completely error-free or that document formatting will replicate native rendering across all viewer engines.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the developer, owner, or contributors of Smooth PDF Reader be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of business profits, or device malfunction arising from your use of or inability to use the service.

7. Service Modifications & Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the software, tools, or website at any time without prior notice.

8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
